When I post comments on WP blogs, comments disappear. Site owner confirms comment in spam. How do I get out of WordPress spam comment jail?

@fairminder That's weird. Did you change anything recently? This comment wasn't caught in spam http://is.gd/vnFk back in Jan.
-
-
@fairminder But of course sir.
-
that happens to me - but my email address is redundant - mari @ mariadkins.com. akismet catches me every time until it learns.
-
@MariAdkins How quick a learner is Akismet and how do you teach it?
-
Confirmed this issue is not related to my IP address by leaving 2 comments on 1 blog with different name, email and website. Only 1 posted.
-
@fairminder Is the IP your office IP or your website's IP?
-
You have to continually tell Askisment "this isn't spam" - it learns. Takes it about a week of commenting.
-
@MariAdkins But Jim posted a comment on my blog awhile back from the same IP, website & email and it wasn't caught in spam. Hmm?

Filled out form here http://akismet.com/contact/ about comments being marked as spam on WP. Received apology and note that it is now fixed.
-
The mystery of never posting WordPress blog comments was due to Akismet's failure. Post here - http://cli.gs/DisappearingComments
-
I've disabled Akismet because of problems like this & just use reCAPTCHA now as a SPAM filter. Have no problems & no automated SPAM
-
Interest point. Great for your visitors. My issue was specifically with leaving comments on other blogs, unrelated to my blog.
-
i'll have to look into recaptcha. awesome. @fairminder glad you got your issue fixed!
-
-
I decided to try recaptcha too, but now I'm being spammed with (drug-related) trackback every few minutes. What the heck??
-
I went back to akismet after getting so much spam it was driving me insane. Apparently enough possibilities to avoid recaptcha after all..
-
@falleri Trackback's unfortunately aren't controlled by reCAPTCHA
-
@falleri If they are all coming from 1 IP address you should be able to label the trackback as SPAM under comments which will block the IP.
-
ah that explains a lot. but then how to avoid that without akismet? I labeled it as spam, but that didn't do me any good, it kept coming..
-
@falleri Have you tried disabling trackbacks for a couple weeks? This may time out the SPAM feeding server from posting to your blog.
-
@EricGuerin Thanks, I have now disabled that, disabled akismet and reactivated recaptcha.. let's see how that goes!
-
-
Have you tried using a different email address to sign up? Sometimes specific ones get blacklisted for some reason.
-
Either that or a spammer has actually used your computer to send their crap! You can protect yourself. Check it out here. http://is.gd/370Uw
