has anyone had success using publicly hosted blog (i.e. blogger or wordpress) versus self-hosting? would like to hear from you
-
The Tweetworks blog is hosted on WordPress. We just use domain masking. How are you defining success?
-
@steveborgman I've done a lot of self-hosted WordPress blogs and always install Google Analytics. Let me know what your Qs are.
-
-
@MikeLangford does domain masking affect SEO?
-
SEO, in my mind, simply means that people find what I want them to find when they search for what I expect them to search for.
-
I'm not an expert, but I can't see how using Wordress.com with your own domain hinders this process.
-
Reading through the comparison on Wordpress's site http://is.gd/fm5X the main differences is control and customization.
-
-
Forwarding a domain is not the same as domain masking/pointing. You'll actually need change the DNS entry.
-
The problem with using hosted blogs is you are driving traffic to your site and you can have your blog deleted suddenly without notice.
-
goDaddy is a tough install for noob. Find a host with elephante, simpltescripts or fantastico. IMHO nickinglis.net makes installs easiest.
-
-
@10minuteexpert are you saying this regarding publicly hosted blogs? and if so, what would cause it to be deleted suddenly?
-
@nickinglis would i be able to install wordpress with your services?
-
Yes, wordpress, joomla, drupal... most of the major blogging and CMS platforms. Check out: http://is.gd/fUhg
-
@nickinglis Wow, this looks great: I will definitely keep you in mind!
-
@nickinglis by the way, do you have any type of affiliate program?
-
Yes, you will receive 10% of your referred transaction as a commission. We also have an affiliate program for web design thru nickinglis.com
